Landowners Encouraged to Help Environmental Recovery

Landowners have a critical role to play in the recovery of the environment and there are already schemes open to them, however numerous delays to the environment bill have meant that many don’t want to commit until more clarity is available. But can we afford to wait?

Covid-19 has and continues to create uncertainty for many estate-based businesses and landowners. Therefore, opportunities to improve the environment that simultaneously generate additional income streams that are predictable must not be ignored.

In addition, the business case for agricultural landowners has already begun to shift in favour of the environment. This is because of a new, broader definition of farming that embraces public goods, including the cultivation of a healthy environment.

However, the report A Business Case for Cultivating Natural Capital explains that there has been a poor take-up of the incentives and schemes open to landowners to help them to deliver positive nature-based changes. This demonstrates that the complexities around the incentives are a roadblock. Further, some landowners do not want to commit before the government provides clarity on the environment bill and the environmental land management scheme.

Many landowners may not realise that there are numerous opportunities available to them, to both help increase profit and protect our natural environment. This is where we can help.

At ethical partnership, our business is focused around our values. In everything that we do, we seek to protect and conserve the natural environment and finite resources of the planet and reflect this in the way we advise our clients, design schemes and select our partners.

We offer a comprehensive range of services to both public and private sector clients to enable them to design developments and other schemes that are sensitive to the needs of wildlife, landscape and habitats whilst simultaneously generating profit. We help our clients protect and conserve local and global environmental resources, have been successful in securing standard and bespoke environmental permits and have an excellent working relationship with the Environment Agency and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency
