We have successfully secured planning permission for a wide range of energy infrastructure – including individual wind turbines and wind farms, anaerobic digestion plants, combined heat & power (CHP), biomass power stations, large-scale solar and hydro schemes requiring Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). Our clients include farmers, landowners, charities and investors.
We offer a comprehensive range of ecology and landscape services to both public and private sector clients that enable clients to design developments and other schemes that are sensitive to the needs of wildlife, landscape and habitats. We help our clients protect and conserve local and global environmental resources. We have been successful in securing standard and bespoke environmental permits and have an excellent working relationship with the Environment Agency and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency .
Building a new house in the countryside requires key criteria to be satisfied in order to obtain the relevant planning permission. We have considerable experience and success in securing permission for such houses through Paragraph 79 (National Planning Policy Framework), ranging from an Arts & Crafts movement inspired house, to a home and garden based on permaculture principles, to a modernist pavillion designed around the needs of a disabled family member. These exciting projects always require a thorough knowledge of the policy context, an ability to understand client and architect to help them deliver their aspirations, and an analytical, out-of-the-box strategy to create opportunities out of constraints.
Renovating historic buildings can be a complicated process, but we have abundant experience of completing and coordinating applications to secure all the necessary permissions. Ethical Partnership’s recent projects include the conversion of redundant agricultural buildings to new homes (which included the restoration of a Scheduled Ancient Monument, the highest category of heritage listing in England); and the transformation of a derelict cottage in a conservation area to create a design for a beautiful home that marries old and new.

We offer ‘auditing and certification’ services for clients who want to ensure their buildings conform with Part M and ‘Lifetime Homes’. We can advises clients on how to incorporate accessible designs into their projects.
We are working increasingly on projects such as new rail stations and refurbishment of existing stations, logistics hubs and on the planning aspects of road developments. As an environmentally-conscious organisation, we seek to do so in a way that means the public will benefit from these projects, with as little environmental harm as possible. We have a track record of researching the ways in which new technologies can be integrated to minimise pollution and energy usage.
