LED’s (Light emitting diodes) are being promoted by manufacturers as the panacea to all our lighting needs and to reducing costs and carbon emissions from public lighting. Senior partner Allen Creedy recently chaired an EU Sustainable Energy Week workshop on the contribution that LED lighting can make. Allen was asked to chair the event following his recent work on public lighting strategies across Europe and their contribution to reducing climate change. The workshop discussed emerging technologies, the need to involve residents in choice of LED’s and lighting levels and the potential cost and carbon savings.
