World Earth Day 2022: Invest in our Planet

Today marks the 52nd annual World Earth Day, with the theme for this year ‘Invest in Our Planet.’ This day focuses on a dedicated push to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 to keep the global temperature below 1.5°C, in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

Studies show a direct correlation between sustainable business practices and business performance. Companies who develop strong Environment Social Governance (ESG) standards have better profitability, stronger financials, and happier employees.

Smarter companies are discovering that it is no longer a choice between going green and growing long-term profits — sustainability is the path to prosperity. So, for both humanitarian and business reasons, it is imperative that companies of all sizes act and embrace the benefits of a green economy.

One of the ways that we can support organisations with moving towards a green economy, is with providing all aspects of planning support surrounding renewable energy. We have recently achieved successful planning permission for the installation of solar car ports and air source heat pumps for a major project in Wales, designed to reduce demand from the National Grid by supplying a large proportion of the energy needs of the sites.

At EP we are proud to support schemes like those in Wales and assist in the move from fossil fuels to renewable energy. With such as vast range of experience, no planning consultancy is better suited to tackle the issues surrounding climate change as part of World Earth Day and moving towards zero-carbon as we are. We are happy to work with local authorities and developers to ensure that the planning process makes the necessary impact to assist in meeting the Government’s target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.
