Sitting down with… Sophie Stanton

This week we sat down with Sophie Stanton, one of our planners to find out more about the work she does and why she enjoys doing it.

To start, could you please tell me your name and your role here at EP?

My name is Sophie and I’m a planner.

And how long have you been with EP?

I’ve been with EP since the 30th June 2021, so over 14 months now!

What would you say your highlights have been so far?

Highlights so far would probably be the diversity of projects that I have been involved in, where I can actually see the positive impact they will have on the local people and how they will support future prosperity.

So, how did you get into your role?

I applied for the Graduate Planner role for Ethical Partnership in 2021 and started working in my role whilst completing my final months of a masters in Urban Planning at Newcastle University.

What is your favourite sector of planning to work in and why is it your favourite?

My favourite sectors of planning to work in are regeneration and heritage, which stretch across various types of planning. I enjoy these sectors as they allow me to incorporate my passion for working with communities, culture and the arts to both revitalise and protect urban environments. Additionally, they allow me to look for opportunities of how to create more energy efficient buildings which ensure the sustainability of schemes for the long-term future of our environment and society.

How do you spend your time outside of EP?

Volunteering in the local community, engaging in charity work, travelling and expanding my food blog I successfully operate on Instagram.

Thanks for this Sophie – hope you have a great rest of your day!
