The house in Ampleforth is the epitome of what Paragraph 79 represents. It is outstanding, innovative and sensitive to the defining characteristics of the landscape. We guided the scheme through the Design Review Process to refine the submission plans and ensure that the scheme presented to planning was considered outstanding by an independent review body.
The site lies within the Howardian Hills AONB and close to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. A high standard of architectural and landscape design is required. Designed to qualify as zero carbon, Ampleforth will utilise a wide range of measures to achieve high thermal efficiency and on-site renewable generation. In addition, water harvesting, recycling and filtration will ensure Ampleforth becomes an example of environmentally conscious design. We made the case for a scheme which seeks to improve the landscape and improve biodiversity.
